The meet sheet for the Crystal Preview is now posted!

The Crystal Springs cross country course is truly a treasure.  During the past year, the cross country community almost lost access to this wonderful course because of objections from local residents.  Monta Vista athletes and parents can help to mitigate issues, make residents happier and help ensure we have access to the course for years to come:

  • DRIVERS:  When arriving and departing, picking up or dropping off athletes, NEVER double park even for an instant.  Always continue driving until there is room at the curb to pull over out of traffic.  Cross country runners can walk down the road a bit.  Cars double parking ‘just for a second while my child jumps out’ snarls traffic all down the street and this is one of the biggest annoyances for local residents.

  • Always wear your face mask on the street while arriving or departing.  You don’t know what the local people are thinking about COVID.

  • Never walk on lawns.

  • Don’t hang out on the street waiting for your friends, come to the course as soon as you arrive.

  • Don’t hang out with your friends on the sidewalk while waiting for your ride; wait on the course until your ride sends you a text message that the car has arrived and parked.  Then go directly to your car and depart.

  • Always give a cheerful hello to people you see who live on the street.  Say, ‘good afternoon, I hope you are having a good day, we love running here!’  Most people will be nice to you if you are nice to them.  If they grumble back, don’t be negative…just say something like, ‘I’m sorry, I know that adults have arranged all this, I just love running here and if I can do anything to help make it easier for you, I will!’

  • Most people want you kids to be happy, and I feel badly for people that don’t smile when they see kids like you enjoying cross country.
