The Monta Vista varsity boys defeated the Saratoga Falcons by a score of 71-54 on Thursday April 6; the junior varsity girls also notched a 61-50 victory.  The varsity girls lost a narrow contest, 66-61, that could have been turned around by one or two races, and the frosh-soph boys went down 66-52 as the MVTF teams earned an overall split.

Highlights included wins by both varsity boys’ relay teams; Ethan Lu also won both the 110m and 300m hurdles, participating in 20 of the varsity boys 71 points.  Rahul Shankar picked up a first and a second in the discus and shot for the varsity boys, Tanay Parikh won both the 800m and 1600m, Denny Dong took the 400, while freshmen Ryan Shen and Agasthya Kothuri swept the top spot in the three jumps to help the varsity boys win their first dual meet this season.  The girls JV win saw Fiona Rusak, Evan Green, and Aditi Chamarthy take 17 of 18 possible points in the throws, while Ridhima Katare, Madi Polidoro, Megan Nieh, Siran Gao and Lilia Murase picked up 25 of 27 points in the distance events.  Clara Fan lead the way in the high and triple jumps, Levinia Lei had a PR in the discus (her 98′ throw was SO CLOSE to the magic 100 mark!), Valerie Ayzenberg and Anika Bhandarkar had hard fought wins in the 800 and 3200, and Yvonne Chen had a thrilling finish in the 100m hurdles for the varsity girls, while Joseph Han’s two jump wins, Sola Nojima’s victory in the 800, and freshman Ravi Polisetti’s victory in the 3200 provided thrills for the fresh-soph boys team.

We are still waiting for the results to post to athletic.net so we can see all the PRs for the day.  A pdf of the results is up on Mr. Lawson’s site.
