During our Spring Break week, there were a group of guys working to patch our track where there was some damage. It is easy to take facilities repair work for granted, all too often we fall into the trap of expecting our facilities to be in good condition. However, anyone who watched this team of four men work hard in the heat, often on their hands and knees trying to get the repairs done perfectly, could not take their work for granted. Repairing the track was time-consuming, hard and dirty work. It would have been understandable if these guys tried to do the work as quickly as possible and head home. However, Monta Vista was fortunate to have a skilled and diligent team that had pride in their work. Jorge and his team truly did their best to provide Monta Vista track and field with an excellent surface to run upon.
Thank you, guys! (and thank you to any athlete that expressed appreciation to Jorge and his team…these guys don’t get much appreciation for the job they do, I would guess. If you said anything to express your gratitude and appreciation, I guarantee you that you were heard and remembered and that your words had an impact on these guys. Not enough people say thank you to people doing work like this!).
