Quicksilver and Stanford Recaps

Great Results for Last “Full” Team Invite

This past weekend, Monta Vista Track & Field sent the majority of the team to the Don Bell Quicksilver Classic Invitational at Leland High School. It was a great day, where I believe MVTF snagged the most medals of the season! In particular, the frosh-soph squad in the morning and early afternoon really raised the bar. It’s clear that this squad is going to be making a big impact over the next couple of years. More on our specific medal-winning performances below.

We also sent five athletes to the prestigious Stanford Invitational to compete in field events! I’ll cover their performances at the bottom of this post.

Girls at Quicksilver

For the morning frosh-soph session, the girls won 4 medals total! Leading the effort was freshman Ritika Sane with a win in the shot put. She threw a PR of 29′ 2″! Melinda Zhao earned a 5th place medal in the 3200m with her best time of the season. Also in 5th place was the 4x400m squad of Vishakha Shastri, Evie Hufnagel, Taylor Orr, and Sophia Li. Earning her first ever medal, Mya Vu snagged a 6th place in the high jump.

In the evening session, the varsity girls walked away with 6 medals overall! Allie Rummelhoff led the way (after coming from her performance at Stanford) with a 2nd place in the discus throw and a 3rd place in the triple jump. Suhani Pahuja came in 3rd place in the 3200m running a PR of 12:21.31! Lauren Moore jumped a PR of 32′ 3″ in the triple jump to take 4th place. Miranda Hsu came in 5th place in the 3200m. Finally, Jasmine Zhao leaped her way to a 6th place medal in the high jump.

Boys at Quicksilver

The frosh-soph boys brought home the most medals of the day as a squad with 8 total! The most exciting medal win of the day was the 4x400m relay team of Sam Heinonen, Tarun Gandhi, Riu Yamada, and Jeffrey Choy blasting to a first place finish (which was the second fastest time of the day, including varsity)! Choy took 3rd in the 200m with a PR of 23.42, as well as another 3rd place medal in the 4x100m relay where he teamed up with Evan Chen, Carter Miller, and Aaryan Samanta. Yamada earned a 3rd place medal in the 800m with a stellar PR of 2:01.78. I see a sub-2 finish from this sophomore before the 2026 season closes! Michael Zhilinsky jumped a PR in the triple jump of 38′ 2″ to take 4th place. Choy snuck into the medal earning spot for the 100m also, getting 5th overall. Yamada earned a 6th place in the 1600m in PR fashion, edging out teammate Gandhi with a time of 4:39.06 (Gandhi ran a PR of 4:39.39 in a separate heat for 9th place overall). Zhilinksy capped off the top 6 finishes with a 6th place in the long jump.

Leading the way for the varsity boys was newcomer Adarsh Inampudi with a win in the triple jump! Birthday boy, Eddie Fan, earned a 3rd place in the discus throw. Also placing 3rd was Constantine Chua in the 300m hurdles. Max Shaykin had an excellent run in the 200m to earn 5th with a PR of 23.35. Fan also earned a 6th place in the shot put with a birthday PR of 40′ 9″! Also in 6th was the 4x100m relay team of Jake Tong, Shaykin, Chua, and Jayden Tang (Tang with a *chef’s kiss* hawk down).

Stanford Performances

The performances at the Stanford Invitational were highlighted by Ryan Shen, taking his second consecutive win in the boys’ long jump! He jumped a PR and new school record of 23′ 11.50″. This jump would have tied for 4th place in the collegiate side of the competition that was also taking place at the Stanford Invite! Shen also earned a 6th place finish in the triple jump with a PR of 45′ 1.75″. Lelani Laruelle earned a 2nd place finish in the high jump as well as a 14th place in the long jump. Allie Rummelhoff landed in 6th for the shot put, before her medal earning performances at Quicksilver. This was followed by Gillie Ross earning 9th in the shot put. Zoe Laruelle rounded things out with a 20th place finish in the triple jump.

Next Up, Fremont!

Our next track meet is Tuesday, April 7th at Fremont High School. This is our last dual meet of the season and for some athletes, this will be your last meet of 2026. I expect to see some really big efforts and a good meet!

Looking ahead even more, we have a few athletes heading to the Arcadia Invitational this weekend. Then, we’re on Spring Break. We can’t take this whole week off – even if you are out of town you all need to get your workouts in! Some will qualify for the CCS Top 8 Invitational which takes place at Los Gatos High School on April 18th. The next weekend after that is the CCS Last Chance Invitational at Mountain View High School. This is our last invitational of the year and it is fairly selective, so only certain individuals will make the cutoff. The following week after that, on April 29th, is our El Camino League Trials. This is what we typically are referring to when we say “Leagues”. Friday, May 1st is El Camino League Finals where individuals who place in the top of Trials earn a spot to compete. Some events, like the 3200m will go straight to finals on Friday and will not run at Trials on Wednesday. Top finishers at Finals will have a chance to qualify for the SCVAL Championship the following weekend. After that, it’s CCS and State. I know this is a lot to put in one paragraph, but it’s okay! Take this one meet at a time and take the results as they come. Ask your coaches any questions you may have about the remainder of our season.
