Crystal Preview Meet Sheet

Our first day on the Crystal Spring cross-country course is a big, big day! And here is the meet sheet for Crystal

Get ready for a treat. Crystal is one of the best cross country courses in the country; I believe if there was more parking for big giant invitationals, this would be widely recognized as the best course anywhere! It has hills, dirt, views, sightlines for spectators, it’s got everything you want.

Crystal is a real cross country challenge. And here is the thing–this is great for Monta Vista. The hills at Crystal are oh so similar to the hills in Fremont Older reserve that we run on every week. While most of the athletes in the Central Coast Section never see hills like Crystal’s until they race there, we train for this. This is the best! Get out there with giant smiles on your face–this is your course!

Everyone who has raced Crystal Springs last year…please help orient all our new runners to the course. Get them excited for their first Crystal!

Please read the meet sheet carefully. Some key points:

  • Know the race you are in. In the JV boys/Varsity-B race, for safety reasons there are two waves starting one minute apart. Know which wave you are in.
  • You need to arrange your own transportation.
  • Parents, when you arrive, please do not double park, even for an instant! The kids can walk a bit. Please keep driving until you can pull completely to the curb and park or let the kids out. Double parking backs all the traffic up and is one of the things that irritates the neighborhood residents.
  • Athletes and parents, please be kind to all the local residents you see. Say hello, say thank you for letting us be there, stay off their lawns, be quiet and polite and respectful. We are their guests.
  • Remember to say thank you to someone who is working to make the race possible! The timer, the starter, the EMT, the meet directors (Lynbrook and Mountain View coaches).

Yay! Crystal!
