Rohan Choudhury, MVXC/MVTF 2015, was recently honored by the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).  In a vote conducted by the league’s member head coaches and announced Tuesday May 7, 2017, Rohan was selected for the Dixon Farmer Award for 2019–an award for leadership across the entire athletic conference.
Rohan, who will graduate from CalTech later this month, was cited for his leadership beginning with his arrival on campus as a first-year.  Rohan was noted as an inspiration to his teammates for his ability to combine academic success with athletic progress.
As a  Computer Science major, Rohan maintained a 3.9 GPA while at the same time having one of the best careers in the history of Caltech distance running.  Rohan is on the  CalTech track and field all-time lists in the 3000m, 5000m, and 10000m distances.
While at Monta Vista, Rohan was a team captain and advanced to the CCS championships in both track and cross country, and all the way to the state meet in cross country.  Check out his track and cross country stats while at Monta Vista.  One of the most impressive things about Rohan’s career is his continuous improvement–he continued to work hard to get better, and the work paid off and showed in his race results.
Following graduation from CalTech, Rohan will spend a year working at Nuro – a self-driving car start-up company – before starting work on his PhD in Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon.
Please don’t ever try to tell me that you can’t combine dedicated academic excellence and achievement, together with dedicated athletic excellence and achievement!  We can do more than one thing well at the same time!
