The All-Central Coast Section teams have been announced…and three Monta Vista cross country athletes have been honored!
Sophomore Sylvana Northrop was chosen for the All-CCS Second Team, and junior Triya Roy was honored with an Honorable Mention selected. Freshman Jannah Sheriff was tapped as Freshman of the Year.
In all, only 25 boys and 25 girls were honored, from more than 150 schools and almost 8,000 cross country athletes in our Section. Having three Monta Vista athletes honored is a significant achievement and recognition of all the hard work our team did, this season and in the past. These awards are not accidents and did not happen by luck! And while these are awards given to individuals, I hope that our entire team feels a share in these awards. Strong teams help individuals achieve their goals, and big team accomplishments and championships draw attention to the individuals on the team. All of you share in Sylvana’s, Triya’s and Jannah’s awards.
The complete selections for all CCS are linked here. The All-CCS teams were chosen by a committee of coaches (no Monta Vista coach is on the committee so these are completely independent choices, no undue influence from Coach Flatow or Coach Johnson!).
