The Stanford Invitational entry lists came out this week, and we have more entrants than we have in years!
Monta Vista was awarded three relay teams this year: The boys 4x400m relay team (to be determined by Coach McKeeman shortly), a boys’ 4x800m relay team (Anand Rao, John Hsiao, Rohan Choudhury and Max Sawyer), a girls’ 4×800 relay team (Sunny Shan, Jenny Xu, Madeleine Yip and Kelly Bishop) and three girls in the 3000m race–Bridget Gottlieb, Jenny and Kelly. Amazingly, no team has more girls in the 3000m than Monta Vista, and our three girls are almost 10% of the complete 3000m field in this prestigious race!
The Stanford meet is one of the most prestigious meets in the area. It is exciting for many reasons, including that this is a ‘mixed’ meet–in addition to high school races, there are college and even professional runners competing also. It’s not often we get a chance to compete at the same meet! I took a quick look through the entry list and see Kori Carter of Nike, Darren Fahy of Georgetown, several Hansons Project runners–and Kevin Bishop of Stanford University!
This might be a fun road trip for some athletes, to come up and cheer our Monta Vista family on as well as see some really great running in a beautiful place, on the Stanford track!
