Dear MV Track Family…I am woefully behind in posting updates!  Travel and prep for travel, running meets and trying to keep up with the team has kept me in the hole.  So here goes, a massive single attempt to get caught up for a brief time…

Homestead at Monta Vista:  Because of weird quirks in scheduling our second home meet was also our last!  We had another excellent meet, with several nice PRs, highlighted in the girls 1600 with a 5:16 by Kelly Bishop and a 10 second PR by Julia Chang in the 1600m.  Our varsity girls won their matchup, lead by double winners Kelly (800-1600), Emma Seyer (shot-discus) as well as Richelle Ju (HJ), Sherry Lin (LJ), and Nicole Phan (100m hurdles).   Complete results are online, and we have some photos courtesy of Andy Ma’s father.

Serra Throwers Meet:  What happens at the throwers meet, stays at the throwers meet–I’ve never been to an all-throwers meet so I can only guess at what happens there, except I do know that Kiersten Chuc threw the discus over 100′ in competition for the first time–congrats, K-Chuc!  Results are here.

De Anza Invitational:  Several of our hurdlers went to this meet over the weekend, along with a few other track athletes who just needed one more competition.  Richelle took 3rd in the high jump, and Albert Han and Jake Bornstein both scored PRs.  Complete results are here.

adidas Meet Of Champions:  Our distance runners headed south and came back with 10 personal bests!  Bridget Gottlieb and Julia both had 20 second PRs in the 3200; Rohan Choudhury, Zach Patti, Brent Mogensen and Max Sawyer all PRed in the 1600m while running a combined time that got them on the list for the 4x1600m race in Arcadia, and Jenny Xu and Sunny Shan along with Bridget all medalled in rated races during the night meet.  Jenny’s time was the 10th fastest out of 609 runners that day.  Outstanding!  Results are posted here, and we have some photos too.

Wilcox v. Monta Vista:  Both varsity teams lost in battles with one of the better teams in the league–but we are heading that direction!  Even in defeat we scored some wins:  Rohan in the 3200, James Migdal in the high jump, Jenny in the 800, Bridget in the 3200 and Emma once more in both shot and discus.  Our younger teams also showed a lot of promise, especial some of the young MV sprinters and jumpers.  We have a few photos here.

Thanks everyone, and I apologize for the delay in getting this up.  See you all soon!
