Frosh-Soph Girls’ Sprint Medley: Check!
Even after dropping the baton on the first handoff, Lauren had the presence of mind to make a legal retrieval and get the baton back to Reema, who took off like a flash even though we were now in last place; Evelyn and Alisha continued to run down competitor after competitor to claim a third place medal!
Frosh-Soph Boys’ Sprint Medley: Check!
Great start by Derek, clean legs and handoffs by Morris and Jonathan, and a strong finish by Elliot earned the boys a second place medal! No one in memory can remember the last time our sprinters won a medley relay medal at an invitational.
Frosh-Soph Girls’ Distance Medley Relay: Check!
Claire ran a super-strong opening leg, Evelyn and Anjali built up a lead, and Sarah put the hammer down as the girls smashed their way to a gold medal, winning by 35 seconds over Los Gatos and setting an all-time meet record (I’m going to do some checking but I think this is Monta Vista FSG record too!).
Frosh-Soph Boys’ Distance Medley: Check!
Kingsley, Elliot, Justin and Andy finished the complete set of medley relay medals with a third place–and the second MVTF squad took seventh! Four races, sixteen medals, pretty sweet!
Our individuals also had a rocking day! Kelly Bishop took home a second place medal for the varsity girls’ 800m, while freshman Jessica Ji finished fourth in the varsity high jump; only one other MV girl in the last five years has jumped five feet. In the 1600m race, Brent, Bennett, Akshara, Isabelle, and Salma all recorded PRs–amazing in such an early season meet! Adam added a PR in the 100m and later a second PR in the 200m dash. In our final race of the day, Paru and Sanjana went 4-5 in the varsity 3200m, with Sanjana notching a PR.
This was a great meet!
