A successful 2014 season ended at the Central Coast Section championships on Friday, May 30 at San Jose City College.

Despite a spirited effort, Monta Vista came away with 4 total points and no medals.  Emma Seyer placed 7th in shot put, extending her own Monta Vista all-time record with a throw of 36’9.5″, and finished 8th in the discus.  Bridget Gottlieb and Kelly Bishop took home 8th and 11th place in the 3200m, with times slightly off their PRs (set 6 days earlier at the CCS Trials).   Complete results are posted here.

This was a solid year of progress for our team, with more individuals making the final day of sectional championships since…well, I’m not sure when, but it’s been years!  We saw MV records set in two events, multiple times, by three different athletes!  Eight seniors are heading to college with plans to compete in track & field at their schools — and their coaches are thrilled to have them — it’s going to be exciting to follow their careers!

Congrats to everyone on a fine season!

And…good luck with your Finals this week!
