Tuesday, March 21 saw Monta Vista take on the other MV (Mountain View) and Fremont in a three-way meet at Fremont High School.

The weather really cooperated; after a cold Monday and a very rainy morning, the sky opened up and we had truly delightful track weather for most of the afternoon.  Monta Vista Athletes took advantage of the sunshine with some solid season bests, including new season highs recorded by Morris Chiang (his first time under 12 in the 100m this season), Andrew Chin (new PR of 12.44 in the 100m), Adam Jancis, Huan Jian Ju and Owen Malone in the 200m, Justin Lin and Peter Heydinger, Adam Jancis and Pranesh Balasubramanian all PRed in the 400m, Andy Ma and Andy Fang prepped for rated races this weekend with season best 800m marks along with Nitin, Derek, Kyle, Vish and Aidan, while Bennett Zhang did the same in the 1600m.  Kaitlyn Zou, Jasmine Lee, Risha Baxi and Shoshana Tai were among the girls scoring 100m season or personal bests, with Estelle Yoo and Sabrina Hung joining Kaitlyn for 200m season best marks also.  Alisha Gao and Victoria Tung added 400m season bests along with Triya, Salma, and Elika in the 800m, a PR for Paru Meyyappan in the 1600m along with a season best for Sanjana Borle, while Akshara Majjiga continued to walk down her 2017 time in the 3200m.  Brad Hong, Richard Dowd, Sabrina Hung, Annabel Li and Pallavi Komma all added season best hurdling marks to the mix.

Among the field eventers, Steven Ataee and Anthony Cruz had double PRs (shot and discus), while Douglas Huang, Daniel Vyshetsky, Morgan Li and Neelufar Raja improved their shot marks and Mutharavind Subramanian and Annabel Li lengthened discus marks.  Some of our high jumpers had a tough day, but Ryan Lee cleared 5’8″ for the first time and frosh Sarang Deshpande had a high school PR in the long jump.

I’m sure I missed a lot of PRs and season bests so forgive me as I whipped through the highlights!

For the team scores, the frosh-soph boys swept both Mt. View and Fremont to move to 3-0 on the season, while the Varsity boys split with a win over Fremont and a lost to Mt. View.  The girls, still weakened with some injuries, went down to some hard fought defeats.  We still believe that come league finals there will be a change as our trend is upwards!

Complete results are up on Lynbrook.  Evelyn How has photos up, and I’m sure Mr. Ma will soon also.
