We have had some really wild weather the last week, and many times that made working out in the rain less-than-fun…yet many of our athletes were out there working hard, despite the elements.

I’m not going to be too hard on the people who didn’t show up.  But I do admire, respect and appreciate the athletes who have been showing up and working.  Something we can all think about is, anyone could have been out working out, no matter what the weather.  Coming to practice was a choice.  We can’t choose how tall we are, or how smart we are, or what physical gifts we have, but we can choose to get the most out of our gifts.  I think that the more we get in the habit of not being discouraged by setbacks, or challenges–or rain and cold–the more likely we are to achieve our goals, or at least be the best we can be.

Sure it was a hard week to practice.  But we can still choose to get out there and do it.

Also, some of this is just a mindset.  We can choose to focus on difficulties and obstacles.  Or we can say, how cool is it to run in the rain?

These athletes look pretty like they are pretty satisfied with their workouts!  I’ll bet they will achieve a lot, not just this season in athletics, but in their lives too.

Good job, everyone!
