Here is a really nice article on Desiree Linden’s Olympic marathon.  Desi is an intense, intelligent competitor and a great athlete, she ran such a smart race at the Olympics.  Desi ended up in a  bad spot for much of the race yet she kept driving and executing.  I think her ability to give her all during a race and accepting the result as her best is pretty wonderful and mature.  Finishing in the top 10 in the Olympics is an incredible achievement, yet of course her goal was a medal.  I saw her miss her first fluid stop, but Desi didn’t make any excuses or get grumpy.  Desi finished with a lot of joy in her effort, you can see the joy on her face above.

Desi is a long-time friend of MVXC.  She regularly checks in on all of you, asking me how the team is doing and keeping track of some of the athletes she met when she visited in 2011.  Here is a shot of her in the Monta Vista library; how many Olympians have stood there?

Nice job, Desi, and congrats on your second trip to the Olympics from MVXC!
