MVXC14 Informational Meeting

Thursday, May 15 at 12:35pm (lunchtime) in the Leadership Room.

Even though some of our athletes are still in the midst of the track and field championship season, it’s not too early to start making plans for summer running and MVXC14!  So let’s get together on Thursday, May 15 at 12:35pm (lunchtime) in the Leadership Room.

Believe it or not–in less than three weeks from the day of this meeting, you will have your last final–and summer will be here!  Summer is when your big improvements are made; all the work you do over the summer is like cash going into your bank account.  The fitness you build over the summer is your fitness account that you will build upon and make withdrawals from during next Fall during the cross country season.   The goal is to start MVXC14 with big, fat fitness accounts!  Preparation includes not only running, but core and mobility work too.

Even though many of you have busy summers planned, with summer classes and camps and internships, there is also time for fitness and training.  We CAN do both, it’s been proven time and time again by some of our best runners who have been part of high level internships or classes, or done lots of traveling, and have come back in the Fall fit and ready to train and race successfully.  Academics and family are always more important than running, however it is possible to have more than one priority and meet the needs of both if you are organized.  Our own team has had plenty of our best runners graduate on to fabulous schools–they did not have to choose between being a great student and being a great runner, they  did both–it can be done.  You can have more than a single priority–you can perform equally well on more than a single thing if you work at it. Yes, you can have it all!

So let’s get together to have a first talk about next MVXC14, and how we can get ready for the year!

Also…if you would like to have an individual talk with me about your summer running, please let me know.  I love to talk running and training and I’d love to help you with your plan.  A great idea is to talk to a couple of teammates who have similar summer plans and form a little training partnership where you can help and support each other to reach your goals.  Come talk to me together and we can put together a plan!
