Not many high schools can say that they have four graduates from a single class running in college, however Monta Vista can make that claim.

Kevin Bishop is wrapping up his first year at Stanford University.  Kevin has been redshirting during his Frosh season at Stanford, and unattached he has run some good times, including a 3:52 for the 1500m.

Surafael Yared has walked on to the track team at the University of Southern California, and has been running the 800 and the 4x800m relay.  Surafael reports that he has broken the 2 minute barrier while competing for USC this last March.

At UC San Diego, Arvind Rao has also walked on and is running the 800m, 400m, 4x800m relay and 4x400m relay.  Arvind has recorded 400 relay splits below 50 seconds!

Our fourth alumni runner to make her college team is Pearl Law, who is running for the University of California–Irvine.  Pearl has increased her mileage significantly for college, and the adaptations to the higher mileage has limited her ability to compete this year, however I’m sure great achievements are in her future.  Pearl is running track now and will be part of the cross country team in the Fall.

It’s pretty great that these four student athletes have kept their passion for track and field, and have made running a part of their college experience.  Please join me in wishing them the best as they continue their running careers while pursuing academic excellence, too!
