The last awards of the 2013 Cross Country season are finally in, and Monta Vista athletes were recognized again!
Two Monta Vista athletes were awarded all-Northern California status. Bridget Gottlieb was selected for the all-NorCal second team, while Kelly Bishop was selected for the Freshman team. These girls were selected from schools stretching between Monterey to Oregon–a huge area and giant population!
Bridget was also selected as the most improved runner in all of Northern California–an incredible honor and the first time a Monta Vista runner was ever selected for this award! In my mind, this is absolutely as prestigious as the MVP, and maybe more so–most improved is a tribute to hard work, determination, and the will to struggle to be better. These are all traits that are important in life, not just running. Well done, Bridget! Here is the link.

Earlier this month, the all-Central Coast Section teams were announced. Bridget was selected for the first team, Kelly was selected for the second team, and Jenny Xu joined them on the CCS team as an honorable mention. Bridget, Kelly and Jenny were three of only 24 girls chosen from among the thousands of girls running for the 140+ schools in the CCS.
