As a coach, having winter break fall two weeks after practice starts is not ideal!  Having a week off a little a later in the season, when we are starting to get tired, might be better.  But at the same time, a break is nice…a break gives a coach time to do things that don’t always fit into a two-hour practice after school.  So I really enjoyed the chance to hang out with the jumpers a couple days last week, raking and digging the pit and enjoying the vibe.

Monta Vista’s jump squad looks really spirited this year, and it’s a very fun group.  The athletes out last week were noticeably supportive of each other, really encouraging their teammates and having a good time doing it.  Sprinters, hurdlers, distance folks, throwers…you should wander over to the jump pits a few times during this season to see what the jumpers are up to–and you HAVE to check out the ‘relax dance’!   It’s a trip.  I think the ‘relax dance’ could take the SCVAL by storm!

Also, I found this clip of Coach Erica that is incredible–kind of amazing to be able to train with this woman!
