Well, we said the schedule is subject to change–this is a new one for us…we had to schedule a change due to forest fires!
Fire fighting crews are staging in Toro Park in order to fight the blaze raging in the Soberanes area. Because of this, the Earlybird Invitational (run at Toro) has been cancelled.
The Earlybird cancellation leads to two changes to our schedule:
We still want an early season race! So MVXC going to attend the Ed Sias Invitational for the first time. This looks like it will be a high quality early season invitational. It has been held continuously for more than 30 years, there is high quality competition (Monte Vista, St. Francis/Sacramento, and Carondolet are all solid running schools that have signed up), and it’s run by Campolindo High School which has a pretty good rep. Here is the meet web site. Should be a fun race!
However we are not done yet. The Central Coast Section championships will be held at Toro Park, so we still need to go run down in Salinas before contesting CCS. So we are signed up for the Monterey Bay Invitational on October 15. Certainly all the Varsity and potential Varsity runners will travel to that meet, but we also plan on bringing most of the team and contest all divisions. Toro is a great course and we should get a run there every year! More information will follow.
